Our Proposed Scientific Nomenclature for the Classification of Stone Relics - This postcard shows the bloody battlefield where Boers, sneaking up the hillside, enveloped a surprised British army under General Colley, trying to hold the hilltop, and annihilated them. The British dead and Colley, are buried in the graveyard. Bystoneders - any random rock that saw the combat; shiftstones - were accidentally or deliberately moved by combatants; utilistones - were moved and utilized to make a defensive wall or cemetery enclosure; alterstone - was the stone that was altered (cut and inscribed) to make it more useful as a tombstone.
